What is missfit Productions?
missfit Productions is "The Storytellers Pedestal." Basically, we are a producing energy that will support emerging artists to get their creative ideas and new work off the ground, by holding events, such as Write Side of the Brain (which aims to create theatre/ performance art/poetry pieces in the same venue and on the same night) and DYSSING MONADYS. The objective is to create an experience for all types of performance and to introduce performance art to a new audience. missfit productions believes that new writing consists of every new idea and we are keen to work with visual writers as well as traditional ones. We believe that new writing is just having a new conceit, a new idea. We welcome new ideas and want to work with people who want to break the boundaries. Whether you consider yourself a visual artist or a theatre practitoner, missfit productions will provide as much support as is required to produce your event within your budget.
Which kind of artist is missfit Productions interested in working with?
Poets, solo artist, live performance artists, visual artists, actors, writers, puppeteers, filmmakers, theatre companies, and creatives, in general. We are highly selective of the individuals and companies we work with, and we make sure that the work we produce is of the highest quality by way of a rigorous propsal and submission process.
Does missfit Productions hold any claims over the work that is produced or presented?
No, creative work always belongs to the artist.
Where are you located?
We are located in London.
Who started missfit Productions?
Lennie Varvarides. "Coming from a visual art and theatre background, my stories are often mixed up and the styles are quite confused. Once upon a time, this was frustrating. But now, I love the inconsistency of my own imagination. My mantra, 'nothing happens until you push,' pretty much sums me up. I do theatre stuff because its the only thing I know how to do with out getting bored or tired, and I create these lucid worlds because they are often more wonderful then the routine of my day job. I don't like rules, and after spending a few years living and working in New York City--writing, directing and producing my own work--I realised that I don't need to follow anyone elses. The old saying, 'build it and they will come' motivated me to set up missfit Productions, with the help of some very good mates. I like people, so email me if you have an idea or want to partner up on a project."
Didn't Lennie Varvarides also create the a)LoStCrEaTiVe Theatre Company?
Yes. However, a)LoStCrEaTiVe has not put on shows for a few years now, and it has slowly morphed into what is now missfit Productions. The old 'relic' site is still up for your perusal and enjoyment.
